about
ABOUT THE TRACK:
2017 has been a strange year. It restructured a lot of my thinking and in many ways renewed a sadness and frustration I feel about the choices we make as people and as a culture at large. But I also got married this summer to a truly incredible person and experienced profound joy and happiness.
I wanted "Jericho" to be something that dealt with both of those feelings. In one sense it is very much a protest song about nativism, greed, and suffering, but it's also a song to my wife and a message of hope that love can bring us out of all that.

A MESSAGE FROM THE BAND
In the spirit of the song, for the first week of sales we'll be donating half the proceeds from "Jericho" to Refugee Council USA and half to the HHFR Fund for victims of the Sutherland Springs shooting. After the first week, all proceeds will go to Refugee Council USA. Donate today to help us make the world a better place for all of us.
V1
Honey you can’t deny
What we got before our eyes
Our very own Jericho
Colder than any stone
Baby please take my hand
This is not the promised land
No it’s just some passing thing
One more snow before the spring
C1:
Honeybee, it’s you and me up against
Such a cruel, cruel world
Mi Amor, outside your door, can’t you see
It’s a cruel, cruel world
My only love, I think God above left us here
In a cruel, cruel world. What a cruel, cruel world.
V2:
Did you buy the fear they sold?
Well listen here, cause all I know
The bona fide number one
Thing we got is our love
C2:
My turtledove, my holy love, you don’t belong
In a cruel, cruel world
Star In The Sky, light up my night, all I see
Is a cruel, cruel world
My prima donna, oh come on mama, let’s get out
Of a cruel, cruel world. What a cruel, cruel world.
BRIDGE:
Cause when I hear that sound I get the feeling
All my time was wasted believing
Some may say I lost my religion
But baby I don’t want to live in a cruel, cruel world.
